Get to Know an Editor!

It’s time to get to know one of our Harlequin editors. In this Q&A, meet Stacy Boyd, who is the Senior Editor for Harlequin Desire. She is also celebrating her 20th year at Harlequin this week!

Write for Harlequin: Why did you choose publishing as a career?

Stacy Boyd: Simple answer: I liked to read and write. My first few jobs out of college led me to publishing, and I decided to stick around only if I could edit romance novels, and I’ve been here ever since!

WFH: What have been your favorite books of 2021?

SB: There have been a lot, but my very favorite book of 2021 is Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkema.

WFH: If you could choose a dream book/author to have been an editor for in the past 50 years, which would you choose?

SB: Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale, which is one of my all-time favorite books.

WFH: Finally, as an acquiring editor, what kinds of stories are on your wish list?

SB: I’m looking for fun stories that mix up of a lot of romance tropes. Stories like People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry and The Switch by Beth O’Leary.

WFH: Bonus question! Speaking of tropes, which are your favorite?

SB: Enemies to lovers and opposites attract, like fish out of water or city vs country.

Thank you to Stacy for her time, and look out for more editor Q&As like this!
